The Mt. Washington Auto Road in New Hampshire was originally opened to horse-drawn buggies in 1861. It is said to be America's oldest man-made tourist attraction and billed as an unmatched driving experience. When Bud Peck, Ed McIntyre and I passed the entrance to the road on our return from Newfoundland in 1987, and since I had never been on it, I called for an impromptu riders' meeting at which we decided to take an unplanned side trip up the mountain. The road is steep, and some is gravel - much without railings, but it was a fun ride. I took these photos. Click on a photo to enlarge it.
